How I came to Christ:

I have been in church for as long as I can remember. When I was 7 years old, my dad asked me about being baptized once I turned 8 but I wasn't sure if I wanted to. It was the tradition in the church I grew up in to be baptized at 8, following a profession of faith. I had gone through the church's classes, which would roughly be considered a catechism. I knew what baptism meant and I knew I loved Jesus, I just didn't want to be baptized based on the calendar. 3 weeks after my 8th birthday I made a public confession and was baptized; May 27, 1990.

My Family:

I've been married to Devyn for almost 20 years. We have three children: Elijah, Ruth, and Hannah.

My Passion:

I would have to say that my passion is to serve others and this has taken many forms throughout my life. My daily drive though is to serve the Lord and love my wife and children.

My favorite book(s) of the Bible:

It's very hard to pick. Maybe John, Acts, and 1 & 2 Timothy; but that leaves out Romans and Ephesians (and Philemon and Jonah and Job and Isaiah and Psalms, and ...). - I deeply love the Word of God and the study of it.

My Hobbies:

  • Scouting - I've been a Scoutmaster for 15 years and I am an Eagle Scout.
  • Hobby Farm - I'm the hired hand though. My wife and daughters are the real farmers.

My Favorite Movie or TV Show:

Anything Laurel & Hardy

What makes me laugh:

My wife and kids. We enjoy laughing with and at each other, knowing we all love each other deeply.

My favorite restaurants:

  • Home. My wife, children, and I love to cook.
  • The Suburban (Leavenworth, KS) - The owner and Chef is a great friend and his food is amazing.
  • Elements (Orrick, MO) - Small, intimate, and very, very delicious food.

How I came to Christ:

Beginning at about age five I attended Sunday School at Immanuel Presbyterian Church in Kansas City North and under the tutelage of wonderful teachers I grew to love the Lord. I don’t know that there was ever an exact date that I accepted Christ, but I began knowing I was a Christian around the age of eight.

My Passion

I really enjoy and receive great satisfaction from working with young people. For those who don’t know Christ, I hope I can lead them to Him, and for those who already have accepted Christ as their savior I hope to enrich their lives with quality teaching.

My favorite book(s) of the Bible:

Matthew and Luke – I enjoy studying the birth of Jesus from two different viewpoints.

My Hobbies:

Photography

My Favorite Movie or TV Show:

Movie – Grapes of Wrath (1940)

TV –  Gunsmoke (1955-1975)

What makes me laugh:

The humorous antics of Middle School children.  Even though I’ve retired after teaching 28 years I’m still in Middle School substituting because I respect the humor and unabashed love of life that only middle school age kids exhibit.

My favorite restaurant:

McDonald’s
